Happy Thanksgiving everyone! You know – I feel like most of us in this country really take this holiday for granted, regardless of how much promotion it’s given and regardless of how much knowledge we have of our historical past. What we need to remember is that we came to this country to escape persecution and to worship G-d (aka Jesus Christ) in a way that contradicted the teachings of the king of England. Because of this we left and came to the New World, where we fought the Indians (making both wise and foolish decisions) and eventually came to be the great country that we are now. We are truly blessed…thinking of all the other countries that don’t have the same privileges that we do. Praise G-d for His everlasting love and His hand of protection upon this country still. I fear one day that the hand of His will no longer protect this country us if we continue to turn away from Him and go about our own way…               School has been quite busy. I’ve had so many papers to do, pro
Well I guess it's technically Thursday now...but Wed was a decent day as well! I tried to get a lot of homework done before Hebrew....yeah that didn't happen. But Hebrew was pretty good. I always learn a lot...almost too much I think! After Hebrew I hung out for a while, then met Mary at the Dinkydome for dinner at Varsity subs (yep - where I went the day before with my Bible friends). It's always nice to catch up with Mary. She brought some pics from when we were around 3-4 years old. They were so adorable! Well at least she was! lol CSF was good. It was all on missions tonight. Some people from Reign Ministries talked about opportunities, and Carolyn talked about Costa Rica and Equador. We also heard about Ukraine (Mr. Mayer is on the board), Japan, China, and others! It was pretty cool. Mary left eary for homework, and I did community group with Cassie. It went pretty well. We expanded on the topic of missionary stuff - so that was cool. After CSF I went over to Coffman
So I better catch up on the past few days here... Sunday was a great day. Church was good. Mr. Berg (aka Fred...not Karl...sadly....) thinks he's a college student and joins our class every Sunday now it seems. That's been pretty fun. After church I went over to the Nystroms to celebrate a post birthday party with my grandma again! My family came after I did. We said goodbye to Ron and Di before they left back for CA. I ended up stickin around after my family and extended family went back home. I hung out with Mary, helped try to get her computer fixed, etc. It was fun. Grandma made me a couple lunches for the next couple days as well! How wonderful is she!!! Monday was school again...I was pretty tired. I went to keyboarding anyway and learned..a couple little things actually. That was about it though! Then I went to Hebrew later on. We always learn so MUCH! Goodness!!! It makes my head hurt everytime! But it was interesting at least! Dinner and frat meeting in the evening. Me
It seems like I'm always a day behind in my entries. But maybe that's a good thing. I went to the doctor yesterday (thanks to the advice of many wonderful friends)! I'll back up just a tad though. I woke up to the sound of some drunk (or very awake for Sat. morning) frat bros. I packed quick to go home for the weekend and to celebrate my grandma's 80th bday with the rest of my extended family. I left the room, locked it behind me, and just as I was leaving, those wonderful bros of mine got the idea to sneak into my room to put shaving cream all over my roommate. Thank God I locked the door behind me. After they discovered this they yelled down the hall for me to come back and unlock it. Jollie...I hope they didn't think about the windows! I came home, took a shower, said "hello" to my family, then went 2 blocks to the clinic to get looked at. I walked into urgent care, waited for about 30 min, then had my BLOOOOOOD dRRRRRRRRRRRAWWWWWWNN for the 1st time (
I feel like most of these journal entries start with a horribly shallow (and boring) opening sentence. With that said…yesterday (Friday) was awesome! Well ok…you might say “Micah, define ‘awesome’ since that word is a very powerful word (and sadly overused…) and since human vocabulary has limits, this word should probably be reserved for only ‘G-d things.” Well you might not actually ask that question…in that context…but I’ll answer it anyway!             It was Friday…I overslept again, thinking I must have mono…I can’t have mono…mono is not a cool thing to have (except it would force me to sleep by dr. orders if I did…lol). I ended up forcing myself to wake up and go to Hebrew class. It was only an hour long today so what should I be worried about right?! Wrong!   Hebrew was just as stressful as any other Hebrew class. Cassie and Donavon were aware of my fatigue and were especially helpful (though they always are).             After class I went back to my frat and decide
Still sick today. I slept for about 14 hours (from midnight 'till 4pm). I finally forced myself to walk around, eat wild rice soup (praise God for that), and have been drinking a lot of water. I still feel light headed... I went to the first real MacLaurin Student Group meeting tonight. I kinda needed to be there since I'm an officer. It's freezing out! But the meeting went well. The video didn't work from the DVD player so we just "discussed" for an hour...which was cool! I also got free coffee (though I don't drink coffee much). Black is good! Well i'm back at my frat, trying to feel better, and talking to some encouraging friends on IM (as well I can type). Thanks to everyone praying for me. It would be nice to be better tomorrow for the Pillar concert tomorrow night :) we'll see though!! God is awesome! Sounds like Donovan (from Hebrew class) needs a place to crash tonight so he's coming over here, so I better get going! God bless! Micah -
Well today was...quite a day...even though I was sick. So I missed my classes for the day...but I went to Hillel (the Jewish center where I have Hebrew) to help take down from the blood drive that day. A few of my other bros were there to help as well. It was nice to chat. I saw Cassie giving blood. It was her first time...but she made it :) After that I took Mary and Sandy and dropped Sandy off at the airport. Then Mary called CSF (Greta, Cassie) and told 'em I was sick and couldn't make it...that was the first time I missed CSF in...well...I don't remember last time I missed! So I went to Mary's house and she made me soup and toast and I slept for a couple hours. Grandma and Sue took care of me as well. Then Mary, Pete, Jess, and I went to see Polar Express! It was opening night and we were the only 4 people in that room! It was great! The movie was pretty cute. A couple came in before the movie and asked what it was about. Jess said "a train"...and after ab
Yesterday was one of the most tiresome day's I've ever had. And there was nothing unusal about this day either. Journalism class was normal. I passed the test we had there. The speaker on advertising was like all the other speakers...except he had cool commercials to show us! Bible class was normal (aka boring). Nothing new there. After that I went to work where we were pretty busy the entire night. For some reason though I was SO tired when I got to work. After working almost 11 hours 'till midnight...I had the worst headache ever. Driving home was scary 'cause I wasn't sure how awake I was. I prayed the entire time and that kept me going. I'm glad I used that time to spend with God. It was needed. I got back to my frat and crashed right away on the futon. My headache slowly resided but I turned and tossed the entire night. When I woke up at 8am I had a headache even worse than the previous night. I took a coulpe Ibprofien and slept for another hour...except th
Yesterday (Monday) was another very eventful day! I really felt like sleeping in but I didn’t and made it to my piano/keyboarding class on time. However after about 25 minutes and no teacher…my classmates and I assumed it was cancelled. I pulled out my laptop, checked my email, and sure enough…and email from our teacher! She emailed us an hour and a half before class!!! I mean come on!!! Of course I understand that she’s sick but at least one student drove that amount of time just to make it to campus on time. Oh well! At least I got some practice in!               Since I had some time to kill I biked over to Tate Lab (where my next class was) to study. On my way there I ran into little Huston. He was late for class so we didn’t talk long. He was quite the guy on Sat. night-lol!!               At Tate Lab I couldn’t find a good place to study so I instead decided to explore the building in its entirety!!I discovered many unused rooms, ancient technology on the upper floor,
I thought yesterday would be a time to relax…at least a little bit…but I was wrong. No worries though. I’m still alive!               I came home late late Sat. night (or very early Sunday morning) at around 4am. I just crashed on my bed as soon as I walked in. Strangely I didn’t fall asleep right away. But it was really hard to wake up. Thanks to Caleb who called my cell which gave me the extra jump start I needed to get to church on time. I got to college group just a couple minutes late but it was really good to see Karl, Caleb, Jon, Jake, and the rest (Karl’s friend, Karl’s dad, my mom, no Joey….). So the video was….ok….I guess….actually this wasn’t the best college group class that I’ve been to but we had some good discussions. Church was good too.               After church I went home and needed to leave fairly early to get to a meeting. My mom had me stay home for an hour to do some videotaping for my grandma’s birthday party. It’s a surprise thing for her 80 th B-day. We’re e
It's 4:30am - technically Sunday now. I can't sleep, yet I'm so exhausted. Know the feeling? I do now! I'll make this short...and yes I will update soon. It's just not my #1 priority right now. But I really do want to update this. Tonight was amazing. I went to the Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Steven Curtis Chapman concert tonight. I met a bunch of my CSF friends at Burger King first in St. Paul. We then went to the concert together. I parked in Dad's parking ramp for free. I didn't need to use his card tonight 'cause it was free for some odd reason tonight. Who knows why. The concert was just simply beyond words...the messages were great and music was so....glorifying to God. I could sing to Him forever. Having about 12,000 Christians at the Xcel center singing in unison is such a powerful thing. I long for the day to sing to my savior for eternity....what a time (or lack of "time") that will be!! I had to leave a few songs early from SCC to
